The music of the harp reflects your soul, and “it is yours to bring forth sweet music from it…” Kahil Gibran. For over 23 years Chiara Turner has brought the harp sweetly alive to all who have heard her play or been taught by her. Mrs. Turner performs and teaches the Grand Concert (pedal) Harp, and the Lever (folk) and Lap harps.
At age 8, Chiara began studying under Ms Joni Martin, the Second Chair Harpist in the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra. She received a music performance scholarship to continue studying the harp, first at Hope College in Holland, Michigan where she studied with Lorraine Alberts, and then to receive her Master’s Degree in Harp Performance from California State University at Long Beach. At Cal State Long Beach she studied under the renowned harpist Marcia Dickstein and performed her graduate harp recital “Harp-mageddon” at the Daniel Recital Hall.
Since then Chiara Turner has been a sought-after soloist for weddings, High Teas, conferences, church services, funerals, private parties and media events, as well as performing with The Golden State Pop Orchestra, Southern California Philharmonic, and the Dana Point Symphony Orchestra, among others. Most recently, she played for a recording of the network TV musical competition show “Asia.” She is also an understanding and effective instructor, transferring her love and skill with this extraordinary instrument to students from eight to eighty.
