Monique was born in Oakland, California on January 29th,1988. She was raised in Alameda, California and is the youngest of 5 children. As a result of growing up in a household of older siblings, she was exposed at an early age to some of the greatest and most influential artists of our time. Her influences came from Janis Joplin, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson,Prince and Mariah Carey. As a singer/songwriter she is distinguishing herself in her genre of “Pop Rock”, from her new home base in Los Angeles, California.
Monique’s approach to songwriting is truly a blend of her musical inspirations, personal life experiences and heartfelt feelings, creating an organic and soulful sound. Her disarming directness and lyrical intensity balances well with her melodic vulnerability. “I believe songwriting needs to be completely honest, even if it’s humiliating at times. The humility of what we feel is what allows us to relate and connect with one another.”
Monique has already built an impressive fan base in California. Monique’s national television debut comes as a contender on NBC’s “The Voice”, Season 2.
