The Ron Kobayashi Trio (pianist Ron Kobayashi, bassist Baba Elefante and drummer Steve Dixon) has played jazz in the Southern California area (with a few out of state gigs) for nearly 20 years. They have recorded 1 DVD and 4 CDs that have received airplay across the U.S. and Canada, making the Top 30 list on radio station KSBR. The Ron Kobayashi Trio was voted “Best Jazz Group in Orange County” by readers of the Orange County Weekly. In 2012, they were nominated in the “Best Jazz” category for the Orange County Music Awards.
Ron has performed for President Bill Clinton and worked with Mel Torme, Peter Frampton, Kenny Burrell, Peter White, Tom Scott, Teddy Edwards and Margaret Whiting. Additionally, Ron has been the Music Director of the Hollywood Diversity Awards where such stars as Chris Rock and George Lopez were honored. Several cuts from Ron’s discs were used in the movie “Sam and Janet” starring Gary Busey. He recently worked with comedian Bob Saget and will perform on two episodes of the 2011 season of “Life After” on the TVone network.
